We are looking for an enthusiastic Front Desk Worker to join our team and contribute to our success.

 

Job Description:

As a Front Desk Worker at Buyamba Sandwich Shop, you will be the first point of contact for our customers, ensuring a positive and efficient experience. Your responsibilities will include:

 

    • Order Taking: Accurately taking customer orders in person and potentially over the phone.

 

    • Cashier Duties: Processing payments, handling cash and card transactions, and balancing the register.

 

    • Food Prep: Assisting with basic food preparation tasks, such as assembling sandwiches, preparing ingredients, and ensuring quality standards are met.

 

  • Order Preparation: Assembling and packaging orders for dine-in and takeout, ensuring accuracy and presentation.
    Maintaining a clean and organized front counter and work area.
    Providing friendly and efficient customer service, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues.
    Collaborating with kitchen staff to ensure smooth order flow.

About the Role

Electric Works Catering & Events is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Events and Catering Assistant to support our Events Manager. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with people, and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves to make events run smoothly.

 

What You’ll Do

  • ✔ Assist with event setup and tear-down, including tables, décor, signage, and tech setup (large screens, basic AV needs).
  • ✔ Perform light administrative tasks, such as printing, making parking validations, and creating event signs/banners.
  • ✔ Use Canva to design simple marketing materials, signage, and event collateral.
  • ✔ Handle light inventory work related to event supplies and catering needs.
  • ✔ Help with campus tours, speaking confidently to groups about our event spaces and services.
  • ✔ Provide customer service support, ensuring a positive experience for event attendees and clients.
  • ✔ Manage some email communications and basic administrative work using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • ✔ Be flexible and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • ✔ Lift up to 50 lbs when setting up and breaking down event spaces.

 

What We’re Looking For

✔ Experience in events or catering (preferred, but not required).
✔ Strong customer service skills and a friendly, professional attitude.
✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new tools.
✔ Basic Canva skills (or willingness to learn) for creating signage and event materials.
✔ Ability to handle light tech setup (projectors, large screens, sound systems, etc.).
✔ Comfortable speaking to tour groups and interacting with a wide range of people.
✔ Ability to work nights and weekends, with a flexible schedule based on events.
✔ Physically able to lift 50 lbs and stay on your feet during events.
